Just over 50 years ago, W. H. Freeman and Company published its first
textbook-Linus Pauling's landmark General Chemistry. Since
that time, Freeman has earned worldwide recognition for its acclaimed
authors, superior production standards, and innovative use of educational
technology. Freeman brings advances in the frontiers of modern science
to classrooms and homes throughout the world, always emphasizing the
process of discovery and the practical applications of scientific
knowledge-not just what scientists know, but how they know it and
how that knowledge is put to work. Freeman was the first company to
produce science textbooks in full color and has been a leader in producing
media products and tools to enhance teaching and learning.
Science in a Technical World ©2000 is Freeman's first foray into publishing
for high school science and tech prep courses. But the project's emphases on the scientific
process, practical applications, and reliable problem solving skills,
as well as its incorporation of media into the course work, make it
just the kind of publishing Freeman has been doing successfully for
over a half a century.
