Effective 6/30/01, Henry Holt and Company, LLC acquired the W.H. Freeman and Company trade list. In addition, Henry Holt took over the distribution of Scientific American Library trade titles from W.H. Freeman. Accordingly, effective 7/1/01, Henry Holt terms of sale apply to W.H. Freeman and Scientific American Library trade titles.

Since Henry Holt and Company and W.H. Freeman and Company are both part of the Holtzbrinck family of publishers, there is no timeframe or deadline associated with returns. Any W.H. Freeman or Scientific American trade book returned after 6/30/01 will be credited under Henry Holt terms. There is also no change in return location; returns for W.H. Freeman and Scientific American Library trade books should continue to be sent to the VHPS Returns Center in Orange, Virginia.
