Instructor's Manual: Answer Guide
There are no absolute answers in science, only observations, data, and interpretations that support or negate a hypothesis. Nevertheless, we are pleased to offer an "answer" guide as a supplement to Biology in the Laboratory, Third Edition.
Within each laboratory, answers are arranged by exercise and by page number. Using the Answer Guide together with the Preparator's Guide will allow you and your students to address any questions you may have about experimental procedures and outcomes. Both guides should also help you identify the origins of students' difficulties and errors; ensure that the work of your laboratory assistants is efficient, effective, and consistent; and assist you with grading.
Answers for the BioBytes simulation exercises are also included at the end of the Answer Guide.
Answer Guide Labs
The exercises in this laboratory will introduce students to the art of making observations, formulating and testing hypotheses, identifying variables, collecting and analyzing data, and forming conclusions. Students will learn the importance of testing null hypothesis and how to analyze whether to accept or reject the null hypothesis.
Instructor's Manual: Preparator's Guide
The laboratory exercises presented in the Biology in the Laboratory, Third Edition were chosen for their educational value and with concern for their ease of preparation. With the help of the Preparator's Guide you should have no difficulty in purchasing or preparing all the necessary materials.
