ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY,
Third Edition

Ronald J. Comer

ABOUT THIS SITE
Welcome to the Abnormal Psychology Web Site!

What you are about to view is a Web site created for the textbook Abnormal Psychology by Ronald J. Comer. This Web site is specifically designed to accompany the textbook and offer students and instructors alike a resource for investigating further into the studies of abnormal psychology. Information in this Web site is organized according to chapters of the textbook and should prove easy for instructors to integrate into course outlines and lectures.

You will notice that this screen is divided into two frames: on the left are the navigation links through the site, and on the right is where information (like this) will appear. To access any part of the site, click on its link in the left-hand navigation frame to see the information appear in this right-hand frame. As you will see, this Web site is designed for easy use and should be welcoming for even those who are new to computers and the Internet.

We are certain that you will find your classroom discussions and student homework assignments to be more stimulating as your students research topics on the Internet and return with new and rewarding information.

FEATURES OF THE SITE

Presented in this Web site are Web-based supplements to the textbook called Educational Resources. In this demonstration there are four sections to the Educational Resources which are described below.

"WebNotes" is a compilation of links to psychology Web sites around the world. WebNotes are divided according to chapters of the textbook and are accompanied by brief descriptions to help guide students through the Web sites. WebNotes were compiled by Professor Fred. W. Whitford of the Psychology Department at Montana State University. Dr. Whitford has also written "Web Questions" which can be used for student assignments and to assist students in thinking creatively during their Internet research. Each chapter contains a specific question that calls upon students to visit a specific abnormal psychology Web site, research a question, and respond with their findings.

And thirdly, "Abnormal Psychology Updates" appends the information in the textbook with the newest research in the field. Written by Professor Greg Neimeyer of the University of Florida, Updates provide you and your students with the latest information and research discoveries in the abnormal psychology field. Updates are fascinating pieces of information which will again enrich your students knowledge and enliven classroom discussion.

And finally are "Tables and Figures" which are files containing selected tables and figures from the Abnormal Psychology textbook and instructor's manual. Instructors may download these files and use them within their presentation software or make overhead transparencies for use during lectures.

This site is meant to support Ronald J. Comer's Abnormal Psychology, and Dr. Comer's work has served as our inspiration. However, Dr. Comer himself is not the "author" of this site, per se, and any errors or inaccuracies that it may contain should not be attributed to him.

Again, thank you for visiting and we hope that you enjoy the Abnormal Psychology Web Site!
