2. Angular unconformity   Sedimentary deposits consisting of salts that accumulate in layers.
3. Asthenosphere   The belief that floods caused by supernatural forces formed most of the rocks visible at Earth's surface.
4. Catastrophism   An environment and the group of organisms that live within it.
5. Core   An unconformity above rocks that underwent erosion before the beds above the unconformity were deposited.
6. Crust   The process by which particular forms of life give rise to other forms of life by way of genetic changes.
7. Crystalline rocks   The weak, partially molten region of the mantle.
8. Disconformity   The disappearance of a species from Earth.
9. Ecosystem   Less dense, light-colored, iron-rich rocks of the continental crust.
