A Balanced Approach. By providing miniscale and microscale versions of experiments and accounting for both types of laboratory glassware, these experiments give instructors a great deal of flexibility in planning a laboratory program.

Offers standard and inquiry-based experiments plus multiweek projects. The inquiry-based experiments involve students in active learning, going beyond the "cookbook" approach to address questions whose answers come from their experimental data. The multi-week projects foster teamwork and allow students the opportunity to think through an experiment and draw their own conclusions about the process, often creating their own experimental design.

A Practical Approach. These experiments introduce students to the way the contemporary organic chemistry lab actually functions, gaining experience with organic synthesis, bioorganic chemistry, computational chemistry, and the analysis and characterization of organic compounds.  Also included is extensive use of NMR and IR, and analysis of reactions by TLC and GLC, plus such modern chemistry as Wittig, hydroboration, and phase-transfer methodology.

Focus on Safety and Waste Disposal. Each experiment includes information on the safe handling of chemicals and handling reaction by-products and waste materials, with specific directions relating to cleaning-up and neutralizing aqueous solutions.

Upgrades from Mohrig, et al., Experimental Organic Chemistry
Custom publishing option.  Instructors can devise the lab manual they want; students only pay for the lab manual they need.
Eight new inquiry based experiments.  This increases the manual’s overall emphasis on active learning.
Five new multi-week projects.  Adding five new first-term projects (there are now nine for each term) makes it possible for instructors to plan an entire course around the project approach.
New Pre-lab and post-lab questions. These allow students to experience more effective learning in their laboratory work.
